Do they have any hotels there too?
Sorry, I’m a little interested in that awesome place.
Such history!

You go to San Francisco airport. Alcatraz is an island without any hotels. You can only get there from Fisherman’s Wharf in SF so you will need a hotel near there.

Does anyone know where they sell Bento things in New York? Preferably: Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.?

Question by Marigold: Does anyone know where they sell Bento things in New York? Preferably: Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.?
I really hate buying bento things online because they’re always double the original price. The only places I know they sell bento stuff is Kinokuniya on 41st in Manhattan and Banzai 99cent store in Queens (Inside Flushing Mall). Banzai 99cent store is kind of tedious for me to get to since I need to take several trains and buses to get to it. And Kinokuniya is as expensive as the sellers online sell simple bentos.
So if you know any place where they sell alot of bento stuff in one place, or even, if there’s Asian(ranging in the Japanese food area) super markets….that would help me alot.
Thank you in advance.
P.S- If you don’t know anything, then please, don’t bother posting anything. Everytime I ask a question, some people write very ignorant things that has nothing to do with the question. Telling me to “look it up” doesn’t help, since I use Answer Yahoo as my last resort, after I’ve busted my head for months looking it up online and going around.

What makes you think “liberals” did that? I thought wealthy conservatives provided all the jobs? What, you suddenly don’t like the “free market?”

Do all apartments in New york check your criminal record and which way do they check?

Question by Potato: Do all apartments in New york check your criminal record and which way do they check?
I had 20 years ago one felony for theft and 2 misdemeanors. Do they do a 10 year background check or do they go back to each county you lived to check record?
Best answer:
Answer by SanDiegoMike
They will probably just do a search in your county – HOWEVER
These things have a way of coming back on you if you aren’t forthcoming in the beginning.
Try this, be up-front about the mistake you made when you were much younger. As a landlord I am always more likely to work with a tenant that appears honest and reasonable. When people try to sneak one by on you, that’s when I shut them down. Even if it wouldn’t have been a big deal.
Bottom line – Honest people tell the truth, and liars lie. EVERYONE belongs in one of those two categories. Getting at your character is the ultimate goal of all criminal, credit, and reference checks. Landlords just want to make sure they’re getting involved with a person who won’t try to take advantage of them – an HONEST person.
This is an opportunity to demonstrate to them that you aren’t the same guy you were 20 years ago. YOU are a man of Character.
Best of luck to you.

Q&A: Should New York observe Muslim holidays since they say 1 of every 8 kids in school are Muslim?

Question by RLP: Should New York observe Muslim holidays since they say 1 of every 8 kids in school are Muslim?
http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2010/07/01/my-take-new-yorks-schools-should-observe-muslim-holidays/
A year ago this week, more than 80 faith-based, civil rights, community and labor organizations came together under the title Coalition for Muslim School Holidays. Our purpose was to encourage New York City to give permanent recognition to its Muslim community by adding two holidays observed by Muslims to the public school calendar: Eid ul-Fitr, which celebrates the end of Ramadan, the sacred month of fasting and Eid Ul-Adha, which celebrates the end of the Hajj, the yearly pilgrimage to Mecca.
“One in every eight school kids in the City of New York observes the Muslim faith,” New York City Comptroller John Liu said in a statement issued yesterday by the Coalition for Muslim School Holidays. “Yet these students are forced to choose between their education and their faith, and it’s a situation that needs to be rectified.”

If Ballets are so expensive…why do they always ask for donations?
Posted by Mostafa Safavi in All about San Francisco on November 5th, 2011
Question by Mark Fisher: If Ballets are so expensive…why do they always ask for donations?
Entering a relationship with a ballet and opera enthusiast I quickly learned just how expensive it was to see such grand theatrical performances. I’m amazed to see that some theater companies, i.e., San Francisco Ballet, charge $ 1900 per set in the best area (Front..center box…something something)…and the cheapest seat usually goes for $ 60…which faces a pillar.
I’ve always wondered with ticket prices so high, why do they always ask for donations? If it’s a matter of overhead…wouldn’t lowering ticket prices bring in more customers?
Fiscally, what’s the deal? Ballet and Opera are cultural landpoints but hardly on the same level of museums. Museums which charge a whopping $ 12-18 fee with many discount programs. I understand why museums *like the Getty in Los Angeles* ask for donations, but as museums behave like libraries, I can’ t see the ballet or opera in the same light…particularly when you consider the cheap prices of attending a symphony.
Best answer:
Answer by KenL
Ballet tickets are priced to what will sell but the ticket income pays only 40% of the cost. Raise the ticket prices to cover the cost and no one could afford them. Lower the ticket prices and donations would not cover the cost.
Good question tho’

Does anyone know of a good hostel or cheap hotel in New York City they could recommend?
Posted by Mostafa Safavi in All about New York on November 2nd, 2011
Question by IrishladPotter: Does anyone know of a good hostel or cheap hotel in New York City they could recommend?
I’m heading to NYC this October with some mates and I’m looking for some personal recommendations for places people have stayed at.
I’ve looked on hostelbookers.com and there are some really nice ones there, but I’ve never been to the city before so I don’t know where would be good to get one.
If anyone’s got any ideas or pointers that would be brilliant.
Thanks for your help.

Question by sherry: i need some info about the air india and singapore airlines are they a good source of travel, like us airways?
my daughter-in-law is getting ready to go to Germany and the cheapest plane tickets we can find is with air india and singapore once she gets to Chicago and New York area and we are just wondering if these are good airlines to take, if anyone is familiar with these please let me know, she is planning on leaving next friday and she is kinda nervous about taking anything but us airways, american airlines and delta, thanks

Answer by potatochip
If you daughter takes Singapore Airlines, she will not want to fly any other airline. Singapore Airlines is known for their in-flight service and the food is pretty good as well. The aircraft are relatively new as the airline is constantly replacing and upgrading their fleet. The airline has won best overall airline numerous times. Also if your daughter-in-law flies with Singapore Airlines, she should be able to earn US Airways miles since both airlines are in the same alliance.

Washington DC Airport – Are they going to depart flights to London?

Question by Jade: Washington DC Airport – Are they going to depart flights to London?
Brother is leaving Atlanta, Georgia tomorrow. He’s going to Washington and then to London.
Does anyone know if Washington Airport are going to let the plane to London depart?
Best answer:
Answer by T.J.
The airports in the United States have nothing to do with the decision. The decision to depart or not is up to the airlines and the airport in London. Currently the airport in London is closed but there is talk about reopening soon. Your brother will just have to call the airline of monitor their website.
