A holiday to New York. Should we go 3 days or a week?

Question by josh m: A holiday to New York. Should we go 3 days or a week?
My girlfriend and I live in London and are planning to go to New york for a short holiday. I’d prefer to go for about a week (although it would cost quite a bit more) because of the jetlag and adjusting to the time difference.

but my girlfriend suggests that we should go for a 3-day weekend because we would eventually get bored of the sights and it would be a lot cheaper. Can anyone help us make a decision?

I would say 3 days because there is not too much in new york. Go to all the cool sites for three days and it will be fun but a week there is a little too much for a place with only pretty sites and it would be very expensive. I agree, it would get boring. Well, have fun !

Q&A: Should New York City be its own state?

Question by Duffman: Should New York City be its own state?
Some people are advocating that New York City breaks off and becomes its own state. I’m personally against it, but I still think it’s an interesting idea worthy of discussion.

Answer by ♥YukiChan☮
Since you live in Cali, you probably would think 60-65 degress is pretty cold right? Well thats warm to people in New york, So bundle up and wear a coat. I’d wear just about 2-3 layers of clothing cause you’ll be warm just walking around the city all day. I’d wear just normal shoes but not flip flops ’cause you don’t want anyone stepping on your toes. The average degree in July is 69 degrees and average for January is 21 degrees

Go to one of these 3 cities: Philadelphia, New York City, Boston. There is a lot to do in all these place, but be aware, NYC isn’t very friendly and it smells weird everywhere you go. I would definitely go to Boston.

Where should I move?

Question by Emiloo: Where should I move?
My husband and I live in South Florida. We are planning to start a family soon and would like to move out of state. The cost of living down here is just too high. We make ok money but we are having a hard time making ends meet with the taxes and such. We would love suggestions on where to look.

We are looking for a safe environment, a medium sized city – someplace where we can walk to a lot of ammenities. Our favorite cities are Fort Lauderdale, Amsterdam, Florence, and Washington DC but we need someplace where it would cost us less to buy a home. We are looking for a liberal, artst environment (I own an art company and work in Marketing and PR, my husband is a banker who plays guitar). Someplace with good schools and parks and museums and culture.

Our ideal home would be under $ 200,000. With streets our family could walk down and say hello to the neighbors while grabbing a cup of coffee and window shopping nearby.

Does our utopian city exist? We’d love your advice!

Q&A: How should I tell him?

Question by : How should I tell him?
My boyfriend (let’s call him “Ben”) have recently been accepted to an internship position at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL… which is where he is going after he graduates from college in two months. I’m currently a graduate student, but on weekends, I would visit him at his college (where I graduated from last year for my BA). Anyway, the problem is that last semester, before he and I started dating, I told him that I could move to Florida (I live within the Washington, DC area) after I finish graduate school next year, so he and I, at the time, decided on going long-distance. The thing is that recently, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and realized that I can’t leave DC (because of my family, niece/nephew, etc..). I’ve started realizing that I can’t give up my entire life and follow him to Florida. His internship lasts for about 6-7 months, but after that, the company would offer him a steady job there… and I know that he wouldn’t want to come back to DC after the internship anyway. And plus, I know that he would ended up meeting new people there and possibly find someone else there… so long-distance relationship wouldn’t work out. SO overall, I feel like there are no other options for us except breaking up.

I haven’t told him how I feel yet… I don’t know how I could do it… right now, he seems so happy and preoccupied with the Walt Disney World internship opportunity.

How should I tell him? Am I being unreasonable about this?

Answer by GreenMan
I think you are being fear guilt doesn’t enter into this.
I feel you are being honest with yourself and people here on answers.
The fact that you’re up front about your feelings is good. I think you’re smart and handling this quite well.
I would say to be 100% honest with him if he is mature he will realize what you’re saying makes sense.
He will meet other people and in any case you’d have to trust your judgment in him 7 yourself.
However 7 months is not undo-able as people in Iraq do much more than that and stay faithful.
They have a commitment and I feel your not wanting to leave your family is a sign (read what I’m saying).
Wouldn’t you feel more at ease after graduate school?
Just look at the seven months like a investment for the future both yours and his.
You see you’ll not have uncertainties and be able to know if things could be right between you. Remember if this works out it will mean you may have to move.

In the same sense if you ever want to meet someone you’ll probably never be able to if you have to stay with your family.
Not unless you meet just the right person like the ‘boy next door’–!.
Highly unlikely too limited a selection.
But it’s your life and I’m being fair and sensible for both of you.
So you understand we all have to make choices.
Best of luck with everything.
The green-man
