NYC is chilly – first check weather.com and you will see what the weather is that week. Definitly bring your coat- its cold in NYC and may rain.
Bring some nice clothes if you go out to dinner or the theater or to a club…
Bring sneakers and comfy clothes for the daytime since you will be walking around all day to check out the city.
Have fun!

Q&A: should I go to singapore or japan?

Question by I like mopeds: should I go to singapore or japan?
I am going to India in summer2009 for exams and I want to know which country I should have a connecting flight through, Singapore or Japan, The singapore tickets are cheaper but do you think that japan will be a better experience, if yes I am willing to spend some time in japan for the time that my next flight doesnt arrive. And is there racism in japan agianst foreign tourists, I dont want to be subject to racism if I go there, but I do know that singapore is a place of people with multiple ethenic backgrounds so I dont think that there is racism there.
another barrier I am thinking of is the language, since there are multiple cultures in singapore so they speak english, do you think that I will have trouble communicating with people in japan, I only know about 50 kanji with most of them being useless, and I know very few japanese words such as Hai, moshimoshi and arigato, and densha. Do you think that if I try to buy something, the store clerk will not understand me,

I’m going on a school trip (business, so no jeans or t-shirts) and I was just wondering what to wear. Either dresses or skirts and something ideal for the weather.

Q&A: Where should I rent an apartment in San Francisco?

Question by puppymowmow: Where should I rent an apartment in San Francisco?
I plan on moving out there some time between June and September from Chicago. I am looking for relatively cheap (less than $ 600 per person), dog-friendly housing with parking near by. What are some neighborhoods to check out? Is this possible?
I don’t have to move to the city exactly. I am looking to work for a Vegan or veg restaurant within the city. So, I guess I am hoping to find somewhere to live with less than a 30 min commute.

Ok lets see,
Fisherman’s Wharf, pier 39 and Ghiradeli Square. You can get there by the Powell street cable car. but before you go you can shop at Union Square and San Francisco centre., Take a ferry to Alcatraz Prison, a very interesting tour. (dress warm and wear comfortable shoes) You also have coit tower china town and The Golden Gate bridge, Go to the cliff house for lunch and drive through Golden Gate Park. Drive down the worlds crookedest street, Lombard and check out Cobb’s comedy club in North Beach. You can also take a ferry to beautiful saucilito. If the Giants are in town, take in a ball game at AT&T park. and much much more. Take the full city tour by double decker Bus. For A Hotel, check out the Marriott at 4th and Mission or the Hyatt regencey on Californina street. There are of Ton of dive bars in the alleys of downtown or in the Haight Ashbury district. Avoid the tenderloin. Restarants are to numerous to list. Heres a site.

Should americans vote out every single incumbent next election to make a point?
Posted by Mostafa Safavi in All about Washington D.C. on January 27th, 2012
Question by jesswzmn: Should americans vote out every single incumbent next election to make a point?
I would support a movement for the 2010 elections that would target every single incumbent congressman and senator for defeat and send a new fresh face to washington DC that has a mandate to change things in the favor of we the people. I know not every politician is bad, but I think it would be a good thing if every incumbent got the boot because then they would realize maybe who they are supposed to work for.

ideally yea…but the voters have been saying that since before I was born (1979). It is obvious the People have no clue what they stand for…and if they did, they wouldn’t have the guts and glory to stand up and fight for it.

Q&A: What should I do with these feelings?
Posted by Mostafa Safavi in All about Washington D.C. on January 23rd, 2012
Question by Say Ray: What should I do with these feelings?
I met this guy two years ago while I was at a company conference in Washington DC. We met in an elevator, he was there visiting family. He’s from California and told me he was an inventor and was also using this time to promote his latest invention. We stayed in touch after just those short minutes in the elevator, and talked over the next two years. We talked about everything, and sometimes about the silliest things but i was so happy after reading his email or after we would get off the phone! After several requests to visit him, I gave in. I spent a
week with him and that just confirmed my feelings for him. I am totally into this guy!!!! We had such a great time together, its like i’ve known him my whole life! But- we live in different states. One part of me thinks something special is there because we stayed in touch after such little interaction when we first met. Bottom line- i think he’s in my life for a reason, and i wouls totally move to California to spend more time with him but i havent talked to him because im scared hes gonna think im crazy… Am i crazy?!(im 23-college grad, hes 27-college grad)

He very well may be special but moving to another state is too big a step.
Your view of life is too fatalistic. Be more pragmatic in your thinking.

Question by micahalp: What should I do with my dad when he comes to visit me in San Francisco?
Please don’t include Fisherman’s Wharf or Alcatraz (he’s seen them). Preferable options that don’t involve too much walking (he’s injured his foot). Thanks!

Why don’t you go to Monterey and Carmel. You can drive around the area. Its very scenic.
You can also go to Sausalito or Muir Woods. The boat rides in San Francisco are also enjoyable.

There are a lot of neighborhoods that have dicey sections. For example, there are some very nice and safe places in the Mission, but three blocks away there could be gang activity. (However, note that the gang activity stays pretty much within gangs; there aren’t random shootings.)
But in general, avoid the Tenderloin, Hunters Point/Bayview, most of the Western Addition, and south Mission.
Here’s the SFPD Crime Maps website where you can check out crime reports in various neighborhoods:
