Washington DC restaurant recommendation: Dinner w/ girlfriend?

Question by : Washington DC restaurant recommendation: Dinner w/ girlfriend?
We will be in DC for the weekend, staying in Dupont Circle. I am looking for a restaurant to take her to dinner, somewhere nice but not overly stuffy. Lots of the nicer restaurants I’m seeing so far are all places you should be wearing a suit to… that having been said, I’m not looking for a tshirt place either. Also worth nothing, being our only full night in town, I’m willing to spend a few bucks on dinner if I have to. We are in our mid 20s if that helps. Thanks.

If you could visit any restaurant in Washington DC where would you go?

Question by Matty Boy: If you could visit any restaurant in Washington DC where would you go?
Just needed some info on where people would go in DC thanks!

It dependents on my mood. If you want something quick and good, Five Guys or Ben’s Chili Bowl are DC favorites. If you want a restaurant then Founding Farmers is the hot spot for professionals. I also like some of the smaller, ethnic places. Two Amy’s is good for Pizza. I also like Bourbon. But right now it would be a flip between Founding Farmers and Marrakesh Palace.

Recommendations for a romantic restaurant in the Washington DC area?
Posted by Mostafa Safavi in All about Washington D.C. on March 17th, 2012
Question by zoey: Recommendations for a romantic restaurant in the Washington DC area?
I’m looking for a place to celebrate Valentine’s day with my boyfriend in the DC area and am looking for a place with exceptional food and a romantic atmosphere, preferably catered toward the younger (20′s range) crowd. Also, we’re probably looking to celebrate on the Friday after Valentine’s day, so restaurants that have extended Valentine’s specials would be helpful. Thanks!

If you want to be in DC, I can’t help, but I can tell you that you should try to go into Old Town. That’s where we went last year (on friday) and they had so many dinner specials for v-day.
We are in our mid-twenties and I know what you mean about how restaurants differ in the ages they cater to. I would recommend these ones for Romantic types–candles, some with waterfront views, cozy atmosphere:
Fish Market- (NOT just seafood but the best around town)-by the water, cute inside and views outside too.
Il Porto-Italian restaurant-they had the deal last year with wine and entrees etc. Romantic.
Chart House– $ $ $ but right on the water and beautiful views and great food and candles, the whole bit.
O’connels Irish restaurant-Nice, a little more modern, but romantic as well. We ate on the rooftop there.
Hope I helped. These are all not “TOO” far from the King street metro-especially if it’s nice out and you’ve got someone to do the walking with you.

Question by ……: Which New York restaurant is better Mesa Girl or Bar Americain?
I’m going to New York soon and being a fan of Bobby Flay would like to got one of his restaurants! The only problem is I cannot decide which of the two to go to. If someone could list the pros and cons of each or something to help me decide that would be great!

I just went to Mesa a couple weeks ago and we were impressed. The food was amazing, the service was great, really cool atmosphere. I highly recommend it. And if you go, you need to try the bbq duck in a blue corn pancake. It’s an appetizer and it was seriously one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life!!
Have a fun trip!

If price isn’t an issue, I’d highly recommend Komi. Komi is the #1 restaurant in DC right now. You don’t get a menu, they bring you about 15 smaller courses. If you’re the adventurous foodie type, go here.
