Seafarers and International House (http://www.sihnyc.org) and Jazz on the Town (http://www.jazzhostels.com/jazzonthetown.php) (both near Union Square with lots of subways and fun things to see and do) are among the best. My wife and I even recommended them to some of our less affluent wedding guests. (None stayed there, but my parents checked them out and approved and they don’t approve of anything.)
There’s also a pretty new Econolodge a few blocks from Times Square.
Don’t stay in the Hostel on Amsertdam and 102nd. It’s right across the street from a housing project and the neighborhood’s a bit rough.

Can anyone recommend an apartment referal website for San Francisco, CA?
Posted by Mostafa Safavi in All about San Francisco on April 19th, 2012
Question by mulligan_tick: Can anyone recommend an apartment referal website for San Francisco, CA?
I am looking for a site that I can put preferences such as location, # of bed/bathrooms, garage, and floor position (1st floor walk up, second floor with elevator, etc), and have it email me when criteria are met. Essentially I am looking for a rental site that works like Monster.com job search agent.
If that isn’t possible, a good rental apartment referral site for San Francisco will do.
Thanks.

go to SF, apt/housing.
you have search fields there.
It is probably the best place (website) for SF rentals.

I’m hoping to find something that costs $ 2,000 a month or less, and hopefully on the Virginia side of the area. Any help would be really appreciated.

I don’t know about specific apartment complexes, but you might want to look in crystal city or pentagon city. But no matter what other say, go visit check out the pool, gym, shops in the area, nightlife and of course the apartment.

San Francisco is great! There is a ton to do. You can shop at Ghiradelli Square, visit Pier 39 and Alcatraz, there are a ton of museums including the California Science Academy, you can go to a San Francisco Giants game, etc. There is always something going on in the city!

Question by : Any cheap cheap cheap hostels to recommend during my new york trip?
I need a place to stay for about two weeks…I have been looking all over the web but everything is so expensive. Of course I could share a room with someone in a hostel or even a dorm but I am just really scared as it is my first time alone in the big apple. So could anyone recommend some hostels or accomodations in new york? I would prefer a room or something…i have checked craigslist.com already…nothing…thank you so much everyone

Hey!
Yes, there are a ton of great, cheap hostels in NYC you can stay in. They are very safe and a lot of fun. If you’re going to be in the city by yourself, staying at a hostel is also a great way to meet other people.
I’ve stayed at a number of hostels around the city. All between $ 15 and $ 55 per night. May I recommend “Jazz on the Town”? Great location near Union Square in Manhattan and pretty darn cheap.
You will have to stay in a room with other people, typically on a bunk-bed. It is a lot of fun though and you won’t be spending any time in your room while visiting NYC anyway.
There is an article named “NYC Hostels – What you Should Know”. It has some good info you may want to know before you book. I’ll link to it below.

Have fun! You’ll love your time in the city.

I want to go for a holiday in New York. What can people recommend?
Posted by Mostafa Safavi in All about New York on January 31st, 2012
Question by Adam L: I want to go for a holiday in New York. What can people recommend?
I’ve always wanted to go to New York, and it’s not now, til i’ve started earning some money, that I can afford to.
I don’t know very much about the city though? What are good airlines to travel with? Where would I want to stay if I want to be in the middle of the tourist-y bit? I don’t want to be put up somewhere that’s miles out of town on the outskirts or in a dangerous bit.
The brochure i’ve got has lots of hotels in Manhattan. Is that a good bit? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Question by sticky: Good restaurants in New York to recommend to foodie parents?
I’m in NZ, parents going to New York next month. They’ve been before but looking for somewhere new to try. Any personal recommendations? We’ve been to Nobu in Las Vegas and Per Se is a bit out of price range. They are total foodies. Also looking for a place with phenomenal ribs for a different day. Suggestions welcome.

Sarah Beth’s is a great restaurant for breakfast and Rosa Mexicana is a great Mexican restaurant. They make really good guacamole at your table.
