San Francisco: If you had only one day to visit, what would you do?

Question by spike_is_my_evil_vampire: San Francisco: If you had only one day to visit, what would you do?
I am visiting a friend there in a couple weeks and want to know what’s recommended and what to skip! Should I do Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Fisherman’s Wharf, etc? What do you recommend? What should I stay away from? I’m a fun-loving girl who’s open minded for anything cool!
I’m actually visiting for 3 days but will go to San Jose one day, the beach one day and San Francisco the next so.. I just want to make sure I don’t miss out on anything!

Question by : What would be great places to visit in Washington DC if I can only spend the day there?
I am going to Washington DC in March. I have only been once before when I was 17. Now I am taking my daughter and I have told her all about the exciting places to visit. However, it looks like we only have a day to tour the city. What would you consider to be the best places to visit while I am there?

Question by Katie: Best places in Washington DC to visit? I’m only going to be there for a solid day.?
My bf lives in Jacksonville NC, and we’re driving up to Washington DC and spending the night and touring the next day. What are the must-sees? Is there a website out there that will plan a little itinerary for me? Thanks!

Go to “the mall” area. You can view The Capital Building, The White House, The Washington Monument, The Lincoln Memorial, and even spend a little time in the Smithsonian. They are all within a 2-mile walk along the mall. No bus, no subway needed.

Do people in New york only live in apartments?

Question by ELLE: Do people in New york only live in apartments?
Or are there houses in New York with backyards and fire places? I know this sounds like a stupid question but there is a good reason behind it!

I own a house. I have a really tiny backyard (you can’t believe how small) and yes – two fireplaces, but they don’t work well.
Of course, I don’t live in Manhattan, but in Brooklyn. And I doubt I could afford my house today. But in parts of the City, houses are fairly common.
That said, lots of people live in apartments.

Q&A: I live only an hour from San Francisco. What can I do for fun in the city that’s not “touristy”?

Question by Kickshaws: I live only an hour from San Francisco. What can I do for fun in the city that’s not “touristy”?
I’ve been to Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, Chinatown, and pretty much only that whole area whenever I’ve visited SF. Where else can I go for fun in the city? What else is there to do?

Q&A: Is it possible to make only the connecting flight but not the initial one?
Posted by Mostafa Safavi in All about Singapore on February 25th, 2012
Question by Tif: Is it possible to make only the connecting flight but not the initial one?
I’m flying to singapore, but will be in paris at the time of departure. Tickets are cheaper UK-France-Singapore, than France-Singapore (stupid, i know) . Would it be ok to just make the connecting flight instead of the initial flight from UK-France?
Best answer:
Answer by dcgirl
If you do not show up for the first flight on the itinerary, the airline will cancel your entire reservation, so if you do this, you will be in France with no ticket to Singapore. On your way home, however, you can step off the plane in France and just stay there as long as you don’t have any baggage checked; the airline won’t come after you for any difference in fare. They’ll just count you as a no-show.

What are good things to do in New York with only a day?

Question by Mr. K: What are good things to do in New York with only a day?
I have one day in New York in early August for a meeting, and I have about 8 hours before the meeting to see the city. I’ll be staying in a hotel about a block from Madison Square Garden, and I would rather not ride around in a Taxi if I can avoid it. Thanks!

You’ll be a stone’s throw away from the Empire State Building and a 10-15 minute walk to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park and the UN. If you jump on the subway or a bus you’ll have plenty of time to head uptown to Central Park and Museum Mile or downtown to the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street/WTC (a.k.a. Ground Zero), etc..
