You go to San Francisco airport. Alcatraz is an island without any hotels. You can only get there from Fisherman’s Wharf in SF so you will need a hotel near there.

Going to New York soon. Need to plan where we are going to. Planning to go to a Broadway show, the zoo, and Central Park already. Just need one more place to go because we want to have a great time. For at least 5 people. Can you also list some boats that are not much that go AROUND not in Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. Thanks!

You could ride the Staten Island Ferry. It doesnt go around the Statue or Ellis Island, but its pretty close….and free.
The Museum of Natural History was the most interesting museum Ive been to in the City (but Im not a huge museum fan). Its on 78th (I think) & Central Park West – right on the outside of Central Park. There is a $ 15 reccomended price, but if you go to the counter, you can suggest any price you want.

im moving from nyc to san francisco. im looking at apartments online but you cant really get the feel of a neighborhood from online. id like any san fran local to please fill me in on what areas to avoid and what areas to look at. im not trying to live anywhere overpriced however. any input would be appreciated.

There are a lot of neighborhoods that have dicey sections. For example, there are some very nice and safe places in the Mission, but three blocks away there could be gang activity. (However, note that the gang activity stays pretty much within gangs; there aren’t random shootings.)
But in general, avoid the Tenderloin, Hunters Point/Bayview, most of the Western Addition, and south Mission.

My 2 best girlfriends and I are going on a trip the first week of May, money is tight specially because we want to go shopping and I am getting hitched soon. We are looking for a safe place for three of us but that aint going to hurt our pockets too much we will also be driving up there so if a shuttle to the city is provided thats a plu! Thanks

In regard to driving, there are several parking garages in Jersey City, near the PATH Train stations, where you can park your car. You can take the PATH Train, which is a small commuter railway line from Jersey City to Manhattan. The fare $ 1.75 one way person.

A friend is coming in for the day, Wednesday, and will stay at Federal Center SW . Time is tight . We want to visit for lunch and or dinner and go to a nice restaurant (up to $ 20 per person lunch, $ 30 dinner for dinner without drinks ) Any suggestions . We could take a cab , not too far, if necessary to nice place.

Go to the Market Inn. It is a very well known seafood restaurant. Your price range is definitely on the low side for a “nice” restaurant, though. Plan about $ 35 each for lunch and around $ 60 for dinner at a “nice” Washington DC restaurant. Yes, that is without wine or drinks.

There aren’t any chains (other than a Travelodge) near the Castro, but there are plenty of little inns and guest houses:

However, you could find many chains on Union Square, and it’s about a 15-minute ride on the streetcar along Market to the Castro.

I want to stay near Union Square in San Francisco, like within a mile or so, but the hotels there are so expensive. Anyone know of a decent hotel that’s not sleezy nearby for perhaps under $ 100 a night?

A mile is not near Union Square any more, and it is a long way to walk there.

me any my wife will be staying in singapore.we are looking out for jobs there. We are going to be there for 7 days from Sep 22 to 28. Please send me an email if you have any room to rent . We will not be cooking. Just a place to keep our baggage and search for jobs.we will be leaving exactly after a week.
we have a very limited budget and cannot afford hotels. we do have friends there but they stay in hostels.
