Use http://www.viator.com/ to learn what to see in the 3 locations then customize the trip to your likes and dislikes.
Once in New York, you can use Bolt Bus for Philadelphia, PA and Greyhound for Washington, DC,
http://boltbus.com / http://greyhound.com
Tip:
1. Have a sweater handy as they crank up the AC sometimes on the buses.
2. See if landing at JFK (if you fly) then taking a bus is cheaper than flying to directly the DC & Philly area.

Washington DC! Know it? What to do during the day?

Question by question4U: Washington DC! Know it? What to do during the day?
I am planning an outing in Washington DC for a bunch of DC local women. What should we do? A wine tour is out of the question and so are any of the tourist traps. Please tell me of something out of the box and fun in DC!

A small picnic on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial would be neat.

Seafarers and International House (http://www.sihnyc.org) and Jazz on the Town (http://www.jazzhostels.com/jazzonthetown.php) (both near Union Square with lots of subways and fun things to see and do) are among the best. My wife and I even recommended them to some of our less affluent wedding guests. (None stayed there, but my parents checked them out and approved and they don’t approve of anything.)
There’s also a pretty new Econolodge a few blocks from Times Square.
Don’t stay in the Hostel on Amsertdam and 102nd. It’s right across the street from a housing project and the neighborhood’s a bit rough.

Q&A: Does anyone know a good website for CHEAP flights>? Specifically from Madison to San Francisco or Oakland?

Question by Girlfriend: Does anyone know a good website for CHEAP flights>? Specifically from Madison to San Francisco or Oakland?
I am really tight on money and have been totally stressing about finding a cheap flight to go home..does anyone have any suggestions?! Thank you!!

Madison is not a large city and will probably not have a lot of flights. Therefore ticket prices will be high due to lack of competition. You can see if you can get flights out of Milwaukee as AirTran has a number of flights out of that city. Another option is to fly out of Chicago.
I would suggest you fly into San Francisco versus Oakland as Oakland is an expensive city to fly in and out of.

In the East Village, there are a couple of good ones in a row on Second Avenue, just south of 7th Street. They’re both on the west side of Second Avenue.
If you make it over the bridge into Williamsburg, Brooklyn, there is a fantastic place called Bliss. Take the L train to the Bedford stop (first stop in Brooklyn), and Bliss is right there when you get above ground. Fantastic nachos.
Also, get a New York zagat guide for restaurants. Or check them out online. They organize restaurants by category, and rank them.

Does anyone know what the typical drive time is from Baltimore to Washington DC on a weekday around 9 am?

Question by HomeHelper: Does anyone know what the typical drive time is from Baltimore to Washington DC on a weekday around 9 am?
Understand that I am looking for an idea of what the traffic is like around that time.
Best answer:

Perhaps 45 minutes to the DC limits, but it depends where in Baltimore and where in DC. The traffic shouldn’t be bad on I-95 at that time, but once you get into DC it will be pretty bad.
