It’s a city with a lot of things to do. Depends on how much time you have. If you don’t want to do the Fisherman’s Wharf thing, then you might hop on the subway (BART) over to Berkeley and knock around the UC campus. Cheap transport, plenty of good second hand book and music stores. You could have a great deal of fun just wandering around there. SF has similar stuff, but a larger area. It would take time to find it all.
If you are going to stay awhile, then get a job as a bicycle messenger. It’s a great life for a twenty-something with no dependents.

Q&A: what are some good italian restaurants in new york by msg?

Question by Pete: what are some good italian restaurants in new york by msg?
I don’t wanna spend too too much money and I’m looking for a good place to bring a date. Suggestions?

Best answer:

Answer by SML
How far from MSG are you willing to trek? the dining options around penn station are terrible. If you can take a 3 minute cab to chelsea, or even cross town to gramercy, there are great italian restaurants on almost every street.

I’ll try to go through this s-l-o-w-l-y, O-K?

This is Travel/Japan.
You come here to ask questions about traveling in, guess where, JAPAN.
You want information on hotels in New York.
New York is NOT in Japan, it’s in the U.S.

What all this leads to is that you need to post your question elsewhere.

Q&A: Good venue for a wedding rehearsal dinner around Washington, DC within the next 3 weeks??

Question by Timothy Y: Good venue for a wedding rehearsal dinner around Washington, DC within the next 3 weeks??
Where is a good place to have a wedding rehearsal dinner with ample parking and good value?? We are looking at having about 30-40 people and price is a big factor.

We are having the wedding at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Saturday… So, the wedding rehearsal will be on Friday afternoon-evening… Considering the traffic in DC on Fridays and price, where is a good place to go? Any ideas? Buffet is also not preferred… Drinks not necessary… Please HELP!!

Don’t get married. That is the best advise I can give you. Sure, it may seem like a good idea now, but you WILL be sorry a couple of years down the road. Run man! RUN!! Run like the wind!!!..and never look back!

Cheap but good hotels NEAR New York City?

Question by .: Cheap but good hotels NEAR New York City?
We are a family of 8-10 people traveling by car to NYC. Since we have a car we don’t mind staying in NJ or somewhere else that is a nice/safe area for families but also cheaper than NYC but within 30 minutes so we can see all the places in NYC.

Any areas we should consider staying at? or Specific hotels?

We will probably get 2 rooms for 2 nights each and want to stay under $ 400 if possible

Best answer:

Answer by Lynn M
why not stay in Manhattan and stay in Radio city apartments? heard they were very reasonable.

My husband got a job in San Francisco where is a good place to live nearby?

Question by MOON GIRL: My husband got a job in San Francisco where is a good place to live nearby?
He is a contractor and makes around 50k a year, where is a decent neighborhood we can afford to live in to rent a house or condo?

Best answer:

Answer by ms bell
I’d suggest Redwood City, which is south of San Francisco, or some of the other suburbs south of San Francisco, like Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Burlingame, Daly City, and San Bruno, to name a few. I’ve visited my relatives out there and it’s a good area to live in. People make good wages. Cost of living is still high, but not as high as in San Francisco.

Question by Tyrone Green: Where should I go on holiday – New York, Boston or Dallas? I want cool friendly people, good bars and culture.?

Best answer:

Answer by talismb
I’d stick with Boston or NY, both are good choices…unless you like hanging out with redneck texans…in which case Dallas would be a better choice.

Not too expensive but good food and service?

Best answer:

Answer by JustJoe
West 45th & 46th Streets between 5th Ave & Broadway is known as “Little Brazil”.
Give yourself 15 or 20 minutes, walk up & down the blocks, read the menus posted outside, and you’re sure to make the choice that’s right for you!
