Washington DC! Know it? What to do during the day?

Question by question4U: Washington DC! Know it? What to do during the day?
I am planning an outing in Washington DC for a bunch of DC local women. What should we do? A wine tour is out of the question and so are any of the tourist traps. Please tell me of something out of the box and fun in DC!

There is nothing spring break specific going on necessarily (like there is in cancun or something), but NYC is always a party. Regardless of what scene you’re into, you’re pretty much guaranteed to find it here.

Any cheap cheap cheap hostels to recommend during my new york trip?

Question by : Any cheap cheap cheap hostels to recommend during my new york trip?
I need a place to stay for about two weeks…I have been looking all over the web but everything is so expensive. Of course I could share a room with someone in a hostel or even a dorm but I am just really scared as it is my first time alone in the big apple. So could anyone recommend some hostels or accomodations in new york? I would prefer a room or something…i have checked craigslist.com already…nothing…thank you so much everyone

Answer by That’s Bobo
Hey!

Yes, there are a ton of great, cheap hostels in NYC you can stay in. They are very safe and a lot of fun. If you’re going to be in the city by yourself, staying at a hostel is also a great way to meet other people.

I’ve stayed at a number of hostels around the city. All between $ 15 and $ 55 per night. May I recommend “Jazz on the Town”? Great location near Union Square in Manhattan and pretty darn cheap.

You will have to stay in a room with other people, typically on a bunk-bed. It is a lot of fun though and you won’t be spending any time in your room while visiting NYC anyway.

There is an article named “NYC Hostels – What you Should Know”. It has some good info you may want to know before you book. I’ll link to it below.

Have fun! You’ll love your time in the city.

When is the cheapest date to fly long-haul during the run up to Christmas?

Question by anna s: When is the cheapest date to fly long-haul during the run up to Christmas?
LONDON-SINGAPORE – I want to book flights around the 18th, but it seems very expensive – anyone know what dates are cheapest/most expensive?
I flew on Christmas Day once to Singapore – not sure of it was cheaper but the aeroplane was empty! Was great! I had 3 seats to myself!

Best answer:

Answer by Geoff M
Looking purely at Singapore Airlines, 18th or earlier is slightly cheaper than 19th to 23rd. 24th onwards gets a lot cheaper.

You’re right, Christmas Day flights tend to be undersubscribed and therefore ought to be slightly cheaper.

Q&A: Are there still things to do in New York during the winter?

Question by : Are there still things to do in New York during the winter?
I will be visiting New York in January (MLK weekend). Any suggestions of what is the best use of my time? I was thinking about seeing the statue of Liberty, but it might be too cold for that.

Best answer:

Answer by Yawker
There’s always something to do in NYC! You can go ice skating in Central Park (or Rockefeller Center), visit some of our many museums, take a bus tour or simply enjoy our great food & spirits. January is also a good time to shop for after-holiday bargains.

Here’s a good online resource for NYC: http://www.nyctouristcenter.com You’ll find NYC tips, a calendar of events and discounts on tours & attractions.

Enjoy!

Really how has Washington DC behaved any different than London did during the height of its Empire?

Question by Trout: Really how has Washington DC behaved any different than London did during the height of its Empire?
The east India trading company — becomes NATO in Afghanistan

The wars of succession became liberation wars

Civilising the world by building roads becomes a no bid building contract in Iraq

Black operations are renamed false flags

London 1800 to 1950 and the US from 1950 on — How have they behaved any differenly ?

Expansionist — heavy reliance on the Naval forces moves to the air force — but both rely on military dominance lies setting internal struggles and so on

So how have they behaved differently in any real sense of the word
Mad Baron

No one is trying to hide it and so it seems to remain hidden in plain sight right in front of everyone

I don’t know a lot about Soviet history the red scare did not occur in Canada the way it did in the US Our government really never tries to involve us too deeply in what they worry about because they would prefer not to have our imput and putting something like the red scare before us at that time would have lead to millions of questions that the government would not have appreciated — so they stuck with the tried and true and said nothing — Hence no red scare amongst the population hence no interest in looking up their history
Son of hades

No no the US does it daily while controlling the media — EVERY DAY your killing civilians EVERY day
