Question by : Things to do in New York City near times square?
I want to go to NYC for a day to see harry potter the exhibition. Do you know of any really great places to eat, museums, shops, activities, or anything else to see or do in New York near Times Square? It can’t take too long because i am mainly going to see the HP exhibit. Anything that takes a few hours or less is good. Thanks, i will take all the advice i can get.

There’s an SF Weekly that’s owned by the same people who publish the Los Angeles version.

However, the locals seem to prefer the Bay Guardian, which has more of a “Northern California” writing style (that is…less on fashion and celebrities, more on politicians and lawsuits).

I can’t remember the name of the bus tour; but when I was in N.Y. a few years ago, I took a double decker bus, that stopped at all main attractions, and if you wanted to get off and look around you could. Then you could catch another bus in 20 minutes or later. While on the bus, a tour guide told you all about the places. You had the option of getting off at all stops, or staying on the bus. It was easy to find these buses in most tourist areas.

I’m taking a train to NYC with my Grandma and my brother the day before New Years’ Eve to meet up with my Uncle. I was wondering if anyone had ideas for what could be fun. Also does anyone know if Rockefeller Center still has the tree up and ice skating at that time?

The tree will be up until into Jan. The ice skating rink for quite some time after that. You could also skate at the pond at Bryant park. Ck out the new Apple store at GCT. See a show at Lincoln center, go to observation deck at Empire state building, take a tour of NBC studios when your at Rock center. Visit 911 memorial and see the progress of the rebuilding, shop, dine. Theres just so much. Too much for just one day. Make sure to be here for the new years fun.

Group of friends are planning a san francisco trip and we have never been there. We are looking for cheap but decent hotels. A good location for attractions, night life and driving distance from alcatraz. Any suggestions will help alot. Thanks.

I am in civil engineering and the market has been great. Especially in public transit which is my field. Overall I feel this is great place to get a job if you look and talk to as many poeple as you can about what you are looking for.

I’ve never been to either, but I’ve read about both areas, mainly from wikipedia, understand the climatic differences, and have checked out the real estate. San Diego seems to have more of a laid-back, vacation-oriented, down-to-earth atmosphere, with much better whether than San Francisco including less wind. However, despite the many attractions, it seems to have less culture but makes up for this in beaches. The area overall is not as pretty to me as San Francisco is, but I’ve only seen picture. San Francisco seems to have more of a big-city atmosphere, which I’m more accustomed to because I live near Chicago, with more culture and worth-while activities. Gorgeous scenery, good whether, too much wind, and not too much of a beach city. I like them both equally because both have their pros and cons. I NEED HELP CHOOSING.
I probably should have mentioned I’m GAY.

I’m from new york but i live in north carolina. I’m moving back to utica, new york. My rent there is $ 525.00 a month for a 2bdrm townhouse compared to my 750 a month for a 1 bdrm apartment. So far i spend $ 2200 a months because of my budget :
car insurance $ 110.00 a month
electric and heating: $ 150.00 a month
Food:$ 500.00
Water:$ 90.00
Cable and computer:$ 150.00
Rent:$ 750 a month
Beauty:$ 450.00 a month
But where i’m moving to i have the option rent to own. I like the area but i want to know is it going to be less? I lived in new york for 15 years before i moved i always heard that utica was dirt cheap and a good place to live. To rent a 1 bdrm apt. is $ 99-$ 325 a month. The only thing good about this is i don’t have to pay for water only electric and heating. The beauty shops and nail salons up there are cheaper. I have a vip card for the grocerey store up there. So how much will my budget change?
