Tavern on the Green is pricey, but it is wonderful! Plus it is in Central Park and a great place to take a stroll after dinner.

I have to do a research paper on an artifact in any of the Smithsonian museums. I was wondering if there were any interesting artifacts that can be found in the Holocaust Museum, the website for the museum didn’t help me put. Has anyone been there and seen a famous(ish) or important artifact? Thanks for the help.

There is a really cool room with pictures from the ceiling down its a forty foot ceiling so pretty cool. If your going with a child you might want to cover their eyes for some parts. They also have the beds from a concentration camp. It’s a very cool place.

NYC is chilly – first check weather.com and you will see what the weather is that week. Definitly bring your coat- its cold in NYC and may rain.

Bring some nice clothes if you go out to dinner or the theater or to a club…

Bring sneakers and comfy clothes for the daytime since you will be walking around all day to check out the city.

Many hostels in the US don’t accept residents of that state, not just New York.

Why? They don’t want to become homeless shelters. They want to remain available for international travellers.

I am going to India in summer2009 for exams and I want to know which country I should have a connecting flight through, Singapore or Japan, The singapore tickets are cheaper but do you think that japan will be a better experience, if yes I am willing to spend some time in japan for the time that my next flight doesnt arrive. And is there racism in japan agianst foreign tourists, I dont want to be subject to racism if I go there, but I do know that singapore is a place of people with multiple ethenic backgrounds so I dont think that there is racism there.
another barrier I am thinking of is the language, since there are multiple cultures in singapore so they speak english, do you think that I will have trouble communicating with people in japan, I only know about 50 kanji with most of them being useless, and I know very few japanese words such as Hai, moshimoshi and arigato, and densha. Do you think that if I try to buy something, the store clerk will not understand me,

Wow, I’m dumb, your name is California Girl, duhh! Ummm…. a lot of people do shave, so it’s not like it would be super awkward or out of the ordinary. It’s whatever you’re comfortable with.
And you can bring a razor if you have it in your checked luggage, but they won’t let you bring it on in a carry-on bag.

I am covered under my mother’s medical benefits she receives from her job. She works in New York, the insurance company is based out of New York. However, both my mother and I live in New Jersey and I attend college full-time in New Jersey. New York law requires insurance companies to cover child dependents until they are age 23, only if they are attending college full-time. New Jersey law requires companies to cover child dependents until they are age 31. Which law applies to me?

If your policy is a NY policy, it’s subject to NY rules & regulations. It’s where the POLICY is from, not where you are, with health insurance.

I’m guessing that all your in network providers, are in NY.

If you want NJ coverages, you need a NJ policy. If your employer doesn’t have any offices in NJ, it’s not their responsibility to offer you NJ health insurance on a group policy – and actually, they can’t GET it.

If you especially love desserts, the Cheesecake Factory is awesome. Their cheesecake is to die for! They’re located on the 8th floor of the Macy’s building in the heart of Union Square in downtown San Francisco. This is also a great place to do some shopping. Have fun on your weekend!!

The rooms at the Affinia Manhatten are large studio types. As long as there is room to fit a rollaway they can provide it for you at a rate of 20.00 per day. Your best bet is to call the hotel directly and set it up in advance.

Getting a rental car at the airport. Would like to drive it to a trolley/train station, take the trolley/train to the Mission District. Would like the station I board at to be convenient to park at. Would like to see the city on trolley. And spend the rest of afternoon in the Mission District. Let me know where would be an ideal place to park and jump on trolley and which line to take. You can take BART directly from the international terminal of SFO directly into the Mission. The 16th and 24th Street stations are on Mission Street. The BART stops between the airport and the mission all have parking, should you choose to drive.

Hello. I am planning to go to Kuala Lumpur (KL) before December. I live in Singapore. I will have a tight budget when I get to KL so I need to know some good places where I can spend the few nights there. Hotels are out of the question. B&B would be good. Why dont you try Sahabat Guesthouse, newly setup by three friends. They have a website with reviews so you can judge for yourself. Price is reasonable and more importantly, everything is new in that place. It is also within KL city area so you can walk to almost all tourist attractions if you want to – KLCC, Bukit Bintang, etc. In fact, try to avoid getting a cab if possible, unless the cab driver agrees to use the meter.

You go to San Francisco airport. Alcatraz is an island without any hotels. You can only get there from Fisherman’s Wharf in SF so you will need a hotel near there.

Hi,
I am flying with Jetstar to singapore and am then connecting to Bangkok. Though I arrive in Singapore at 9:00 at night and leave at 6:00 in the morning. The Flight that I leave from is with Tiger from the budget terminal and therefore I cannot go through transit.

I would like to stay at the Transit Hotel in the terminal I arrive in. But what would happen to my lugguage etc…. Would I just go to the hotel straight from my flight… and then at say 4:00 in the morning clear customs etc. Can you do that?

Please I really need to know.
On my ticket it says I arrive in terminal 1.

I found this on the Singapore Airport webpage in the FAQ area.

2. If I am arriving on a budget airline flight and departing on another budget airline flight some time later, will I be able to get back into transit and use the Transit Hotel after clearing Customs & Immigration?
If you arrive on JetstarAsia, Valuair or Thai Air Asia, you can stay at the nearest Transit Hotel in Terminal 1. As the Transit Hotel is located in the Transit Hall, you should not clear Customs and Immigration upon your arrival in Singapore. We recommend that you make a room reservation with the Transit Hotel well in advance.
However, you must still have the valid travel documents into Singapore to clear Customs and Immigration to collect your check-in baggage from the respective airline handling agents’ Lost & Found counter at the centre of the Arrival Baggage Claim Hall. It is advisable to do so at least 2 hours before you check-in for your connecting budget.
So, does that mean I can or can’t…
I really want to stay at the transit hotel for 6 hours as it is during the night…. but what happens to my bags etc… and because I havent gone through customs etc wont they come looking for me?

The ABSOLUTE best place to go is the Smithsonian ! It’s SOOOOO much better than all the memorials/statues/white-house, etc.

I’ll be visiting there for two days. Here are the places I’ve been already, Coit Tower, Pier 39, Golden Gate Park, all the big league stadiums, and the Natural Museums.

To be honest I have never heard of a company that does this. There are companies that do executive searches for Executive Directors and jobs at that level, but not at the staff level.

Wondering if anyone knows of any cheap flights around this time?
I really am not too fussy if I have to go via Kathmandu or somewhere XD..At the moment, the cheapest flights I have found are around 1700 Australian dollars.
I am flying to Bangkok, then from Singapore to Cairns, then Cairns to Port Moresby(Papua New Guinea), Port Moresby to Lae(I think thats how it is spelled), Lae to Tufi by private charter) and back, then Lae to Port Moreby, Port Moresby to Cairns – and then I need to get home – which is incidentally Glasgow in Scotland..This whole thing is over 14 weeks btw

Any help would be much apreciated – )

I am scheduled to attend an event at Washington DC convention cetner at following address.
801 Mount Vernon Place Northwest
Washington, DC 20001-3614, United States
However due to the nature of event all hotels recommended by the event organizers are running too high in price. So I went to priceline.com to book name your price hotel in walkin distance. However as I am not local and travelling from abroad to the US, it become impossible for me to identify and choose area presented by the site (i.e. when I provided above address for name your price, it presented to me following 13 area in which I can do name a price offer).

Alexandria West
Bethesda, MD
Convention Ctr – Capitol Hill area
Crystal City
DC Suburbs – Northeast Area
Dupont Circle -Woodley Park

I know of a couple of car rental places at LAX that rent Minis, but you’d have to return it to the same place you rented it from. You’d probably have to rent from one of the big chain rental companies for a one-way rental like that, but I don’t if they have Minis. I sort of doubt it.

One place you might want to call is Fox Rent-A-Car. I know they have offices in San Francisco and they will rent out of the ordinary rental cars. You might get lucky with them.

Celebrities almost invariably keep this sort of information very quiet, as they wish their privacy while at hotels.

im working on a hotel and we are starting an overseas market specifically on that countries..my boss ask me to find popular website/blog in Germany,Holland and Singapore because he’s planning to make a free advertisement if it’s possible. Go to Google Adwords.

The have a system where you can put the ads on specific websites if the websites use google.

If they don’t, ask the website owners who they allow to advertise on their site – you might be able to get a direct placement.

I’ve always wanted to go to New York, and it’s not now, til i’ve started earning some money, that I can afford to.

I don’t know very much about the city though? What are good airlines to travel with? Where would I want to stay if I want to be in the middle of the tourist-y bit? I don’t want to be put up somewhere that’s miles out of town on the outskirts or in a dangerous bit.

The brochure i’ve got has lots of hotels in Manhattan. Is that a good bit? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I have friends who are coming this weekend to visit. They have all been here before, so they’ve done the “touristy” thing of going to the Golden Gate Bridge, hanging out by Fisherman’s Wharf and the Pier, etc. I was wondering if there were any other fun things you can suggest for us to do in the city. And which not-too-expensive food places would you suggest I bring them to? (something along the lines of Bi-Rite, Ike’s, etc)
