1. Sublet from someone
1a. this could be someone privately renting out their own property – commonly advertising on craigslist.org
1b. or someone who is looking for a roommate and is already renting (this depends on the landlord and whether that requires a new lease – in many cases it won’t)
2. Get a cosigner – someone who has better credit who is basically saying if you default, the creditors chase you and then chase the cosigner. This method is quite a burden to place on even a good friend but family members may be able to oblige. There’s no cost to them so long as you do pay your rent.

It’s a city with a lot of things to do. Depends on how much time you have. If you don’t want to do the Fisherman’s Wharf thing, then you might hop on the subway (BART) over to Berkeley and knock around the UC campus. Cheap transport, plenty of good second hand book and music stores. You could have a great deal of fun just wandering around there. SF has similar stuff, but a larger area. It would take time to find it all.
If you are going to stay awhile, then get a job as a bicycle messenger. It’s a great life for a twenty-something with no dependents.

i have been looking for this place where they sell live fresh crab and tie them and hand them to you in a white garbage bag. i’m pretty sure that it’s not in fisherman’s wharf but maybe 20 mins in downtown san francisco. please help!! ive been searching for this place for 3 years. thanks!

I don’t know exactly what shop but try the fresh fish vendors along Stockton Street in Chinatown. Most shops are between Broadway and Clay.

Geary runs about 2/3 of the lengh of the city so I’m sure there are several senior housing developments along it.
There are also several Institute on Aging buildings along Geary as well.

My two favorite cities I’ve been to are New York and San Francisco. I’m looking for somewhere else with a similar vibe to travel to for vacation. Any suggestions? I like to have a variety of things to do…museums, nature, shopping, site seeing…etc.
